It’s easy to get caught up in the pace of life. We move from one day to the next, hoping to enjoy life along the way, accomplish what needs to be done, and maybe save enough money to make the future a little better than the past.
But surely there is more to life than that.
God once gave the people of Jerusalem this counsel:
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”
—Jeremiah 6:16
Life is full of choices. Most of them are pretty ordinary: Which product should I buy? What should I watch tonight? What should I have for dinner?
But every now and then, we come to a crossroads where the choice is much more significant. These are the decisions that shape who we are becoming and what our lives will ultimately accomplish.
Those are the choices that require God’s wisdom.

In playoff sports, when the clock winds down and the stakes rise, everything intensifies. The game seems to slow—yet every movement accelerates. Every pass, every play, every decision carries weight. The pressure is palpable, and nothing feels insignificant.
In a similar way, we are living in a high-stakes, high-intensity moment in God’s redemptive story.
Scripture reveals a sweep of progressive revelation from the promises of old, to the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. This launched what the Bible calls the “Last Days”—a period that has now stretched over two millennia.
These are days of revelation and power. Days where the Spirit is active. Days in which the Church is called to demonstrate God’s love to the world. Days of preparation—for the end of life as we know it and the beginning of eternal life to come.
Could it be that we are now in the final stretch of these Last Days?

Many people want to be healthier and in better shape. Today the number of popular diet program options is mind boggling. Keto. Paleo. Intermittent Fasting. Cleanses. Mediterranean, just to name a few.

Many people want to look nice for an upcoming event or reunion, but fewer seek to sustain a life change that will make a difference for the long haul. Do you want to cut excess sugar for the next 10-20 years, or is this a short-term fancy? Are you willing to keep at your exercise plan for years and years, or is it related to some short-term goal?
Sometimes people address their faith-life in a similar way. They want to get in “spiritual shape;” they are hoping it will happen by magic, and they put their hope in a “crash-diet” of Sunday sermons and crisis prayers.
