Are You Drowning in Decisions? There’s a Better Way to Be Led.
Do you feel mentally tired before the day even really starts, feel like you are living without traction or sense of growth? You are not alone. We are making far more decisions than any generation before us.
What to buy.
What to say.
How to work.
Where to work.
How to rest.
What to believe.
What to ignore.
The sheer volume is exhausting—and it quietly erodes clarity. Not because you’re incapable, but because no one was designed to navigate this much noise alone.
Here’s the good news: you’re not meant to.
God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us.
But clarity requires learning His language.
The Spirit’s Primary Language Is Scripture
The Holy Spirit speaks in many ways—promptings, convictions, encouragement, restraint.
But His foundational language is Scripture.
Paul puts it plainly:
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true… and to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.”
(2 Timothy 3:16–17, NLT)
Scripture is the shared language the Spirit often uses to communicate how life works.
It’s how God trains our discernment, shapes our thinking, and steadies our decisions.
This is why Jesus—fully led by the Spirit—was deeply rooted in the Scriptures.
And it’s why the New Testament itself flows out of the Old.
God does not change. His character is consistent. His ways are reliable.
When you know what God has done, you become better at recognizing what He’s doing now.
Scripture Trains Your Discernment Over Time
The Spirit regularly reminds us, nudges us, corrects us, and encourages us—but He does so using truth already planted within us.
That’s why there is no shortcut here.
If you haven’t worked through the Bible at least once or twice, make that a long-term priority. Not rushed. Not perfect. Just faithful.
A few wise practices:
The goal isn’t information.
It’s formation … formation of your soul, character and the deepening of your spirit.
“The word of God is alive and active…”
(Hebrews 4:12)
You’re not meant to skim it—you’re meant to receive it.
From Hearing to Living
Clarity doesn’t come from Scripture alone—it comes from Scripture lived out.
Over time, as you:
…your discernment grows stronger.
“Solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”
(Hebrews 5:14)
And Scripture is clear about the end goal:
“Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.”
(James 1:22)
A Simple Invitation
Let’s commit to a steady, lifelong rhythm:
This kind of grounded attentiveness is what will carry you wisely—and securely—through these increasingly complicated days.
Not frantic.
Not reactive.
But clear. Rooted. Faithful.
Take a few quiet minutes and ask yourself:
Sit with these questions. Invite the Holy Spirit to highlight one small, concrete adjustment you can make this week—and then follow through.
With you,
~ Coach Tom
