Can These Bones Live?
The Spirit of the Lord once showed the prophet Ezekiel a valley filled with dry bones—scattered, lifeless, and completely without hope. Then God asked him a question: “Can these bones live?” (Ezekiel 37:3)
Later, God explained that the bones represented the people of Israel. They weren’t just struggling—they felt completely spent. Dry. Disconnected. For all practical purposes, they felt dead inside. Cut off from God and from one another. Hopeless.
And then God did something unexpected.
He told Ezekiel to speak to the bones—to prophesy life, hope, and restoration. To declare that God could bring resurrection, rebuild what was broken, and restore true community rooted in relationship with Him.
So… how are you doing?
I mean, really doing.
Are you feeling worn out or dry in your soul? Has your sense of passion or purpose faded? Does your faith feel more like going through the motions than living with expectation?
Are you seeing growth and transformation—in your own life, in your family, in others? Or does it feel like things have stalled?
And what about relationships? Are you building new, meaningful connections where you are truly known? Or just coasting on old ones that are slowly losing life?
If any of that hits close to home, take a deep breath and hear this:
There is hope. Today.
Today is a fresh day of salvation.
If you are in Christ, God Himself lives in you. The same God described as the One “who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not” (Romans 4:17) is present and active in you right now.
So what do we do with that?
It’s time to activate your faith.
The life of Christ is already in you—but sometimes we need to intentionally step into it. Start with honesty. If you feel spiritually dry or disconnected, say it. Bring it into the light.
Then pause.
Be still for a moment and receive from Him. Ask for a fresh filling of His Spirit—His life flowing into every part of you. Pay attention to the gentle impressions He gives, and take a step to act on them. Even small steps begin to awaken what’s been dormant.
And don’t stop with yourself.
Look around. There are people near you who feel just like those dry bones—discouraged, isolated, and running out of hope.
Move toward them.
Listen carefully. Be present. Ask thoughtful, curious questions. Let them feel seen and known.
As you pray for them, ask God to give you words of hope—specific, personal, timely words. And when He does, speak them. Gently. Faithfully. Courageously.
You don’t have to have all the answers. Just bring life where you can.
And keep building connection.
Take initiative in your relationships. Show real interest. Be “with” people, not just around them. Help connect others who feel isolated. You carry the heart of an ambassador—someone who brings people back into relationship, with God and with each other.
Those dry bones in Ezekiel’s vision didn’t stay that way.
They lived.
And the same Spirit who brought life to them is still moving today.
So yes—these bones can live.
As we wake up, speak life, and walk in step with the Holy Spirit… we may just see more resurrection than we ever expected.
