Some people live as if there is no God.
Some believe He exists but assume He’s silent.
And others are doing everything they can to hear His voice more clearly.
But maybe the way to hear Him isn’t through doing more.
Maybe it’s through quieting down and paying attention.
Our lives are noisy. Constant motion. Constant thought. Constant input. But when we slow our anxious energy and become still, something shifts. Suddenly, the world around us starts to speak. We begin to notice God’s fingerprints everywhere—His will, His beauty, His steady activity woven into ordinary life.
Psalm 19 says,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth.” (Psalm 19:1–4)
Creation speaks—without saying a word.
The problem isn’t that God has stopped speaking; it’s that we’ve stopped looking.
What might God be saying through that tree outside your window—the one bending and swaying in the breeze?
What might He be revealing through the laughter of children walking home from school?
Even your own emotions—what might they be whispering about His presence and care?
When we slow down enough to notice, everyday life becomes a living conversation with God. This posture of curiosity—this quiet attentiveness—opens us to His Spirit, the Counselor, Teacher, and Creator. It softens our pride, fills our hearts with gratitude, and reawakens wonder.
Let’s be still and notice how everything around us points back to Jesus, the source of life itself. Let Scripture shape what we see. Let imagination become a doorway into worship. As we do, we’ll find ourselves experiencing God, not just thinking about Him.
This active, attentive way of being awakens something inside us. We start sensing what’s on God’s heart—and what’s stirring in our own.
This is what it means to truly live with God: eyes open, heart listening, spirit responsive.
Habakkuk modeled this beautifully when he said,
“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what He will say to me.” (Habakkuk 2:1)
One of the best ways to hear God is simply to be still—and look.
To step away from the noise and practice Kingdom contemplation.
When we do, we often find ourselves unexpectedly drawn into worship.
We begin to see His presence in all things.
And before we know it, our quiet observation has turned into holy conversation.
With you,
