If I asked you, “How are you doing spiritually?” you might need a moment to think about it.
You’d probably start mentally reviewing your Bible reading. Have I been consistent? Did I even open it this week? Do I remember anything I read—and did it make any difference in my life?
Then you might check in on your prayer life. Have I actually been talking to God, or just thinking about prayer? Have I lifted up my family, my work, my community? Have I interceded for anyone at all?
From there, you might evaluate your church involvement—attendance, serving, small group participation.
And after that quick internal survey, you’d likely give yourself some kind of grade… then adjust up or down depending on whether you’re wired as an optimist or a realist.
But here’s the thing:
Your spiritual life is so much bigger than your religious activities. It touches every part of who you are and what you do.
Paul said it this way:
“WHATEVER you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus… WHATEVER you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:17, 23–24)
In other words: your whole life is spiritual.
Yet the enemy works hard to convince us otherwise.
He wants us to see life through two separate lenses—sacred and secular. He wants us to divide our days into “spiritual things” (church, prayer, Bible reading) and “everything else” (work, errands, parenting, relationships, dreams).
And when we buy into that lie, our lives shrink. We begin to measure our spirituality by only a tiny slice of our existence. We become discouraged, distracted, and spiritually powerless—not because we lack faith, but because we’ve been tricked into compartmentalizing it.
But that’s not who you are.
You are a deeply loved, fully forgiven son or daughter of God.
You are called to carry the Good News into all the world—not only into the religious corners of it.
When God leads us out of that spiritual compartmentalization and into the truth—
that all of life is infused with His presence,
that every moment is holy,
that whatever we do can become worship—
we become free. Free to live boldly. Free to dismantle lies. Free to bring light into every place our feet land.
So consider your plans for today, this week, even your future.
Hold them before God. Ask for His wisdom, His timing, His heart.
And when you sense His direction—even faintly—step into whatever you are doing with prayerful confidence.
Because the Kingdom of God goes with you.
And the King Himself lives through you—
in the name, the will, and the authority of Jesus.
With you,
~ Coach Tom
