Faith means a lot of different things to different people. I’ve often heard questions like, “Do you have much faith?” or “Do you have enough faith?” On the surface, these sound like objective questions—but in practice, they’re often asked in vague and fuzzy ways.
Usually, people are talking about whether someone has enough faith to believe that something they hope for will happen:
“Do you have faith that you’ll get married?”
“Do you have faith that you’ll land that job?”
“Do you have faith that you’ll become successful?”
But biblical faith isn’t rooted in our personal desires or wishes for the future. Biblical faith is anchored in God—in who He is, in what He’s said, and in what He’s done.
Paul wrote that faith “comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17). Faith is not something we drum up emotionally—it springs from the message of Christ. It's a response to God's revealed truth.
In 2 Corinthians 1:20, we’re reminded that all of God’s promises are “yes” in Christ. That means God’s faithfulness isn’t theoretical—it’s embodied in Jesus. Faith, then, isn’t about whether we believe hard enough to make something happen. It's about trusting in what God has already done, is doing now, and will do—through Christ.
Faith is built on three things:
Understanding God’s message – through Scripture.
Believing it to be true – not casually, but with deep conviction.
Acting on it – letting that belief shape your choices and direction.
Faith hears God’s Word, trusts it, and lives like it’s true. It’s more than mental agreement—it’s conviction that leads to action.
This is why simply reading the Bible isn’t enough. Faith grows as you interact with God’s Word—daily, deeply, honestly—so that you remember what He has done, recognize what He may be doing, and respond to what He has said.
Faith doesn’t always feel safe. Acting on what God has said can be costly. Sometimes it means trusting Him over a long period of time, walking in obedience when you can’t yet see the outcome.
But this is where transforming faith lives—where God’s truth and our willingness to obey come together. Faith brings your actions to life, because God animates what’s done in obedience to His will.
True faith expresses itself through faithfulness.
What are you believing about God’s will in your life and areas of influence?
How are you living in that direction?
How is your faith becoming visible through your choices and actions?
Now that is practical faith!
With you,
